Safety and Supervised Play
Good Play Starts With a Little Care 🐾
Every Adventure comes with new things to discover. A few simple habits help your pup enjoy them as intended.
Always supervise play, inspect toys regularly and retire damaged toys.
Start With Their Kind of Play
Classic Play is designed for Extra Small, Small and Medium adult dogs with Very Gentle, Gentle or Moderate play styles. It isn’t designed for large dogs or power chewers.
Your dog’s size and usual play style help guide their selection, but every dog plays differently. Check that each item suits your individual dog before offering it. Never offer a toy small enough to swallow whole.
Before the Adventure Begins
- Read the product guide, packaging and hangtags.
- Remove packaging, tags and temporary fasteners as directed. Leave permanent product parts intact.
- Check each item for damage before first use.
- Keep the box, wrapping, Pawport, stamps and paper guide out of chewing reach—they’re part of the experience, not dog toys.
- Choose a clear space with enough room to play.
Stay Close to the Fun
Supervision means staying nearby and actively watching how your dog uses the item.
Stop play if your pup starts pulling off pieces, exposing stuffing or a squeaker, unravelling rope, or breaking material away.
Even an old favourite needs checking before and during play. Put items away when you cannot supervise.
Every Item Has Its Own Role
Sidekick — their soft travel companion.
For carrying, cuddling and gentle play. If cuddles turn into determined ripping or chewing, take a break and put the plush away.
Mission — a little discovery to work on together.
Follow the product guide for that month’s sniffing, searching, pulling or treat-hiding activity. Fabric strips and other toy parts are not edible.
ChewMatch — chosen with their play style in mind.
Follow the instructions for the specific rope, rubber or other item included. A play-style match does not guarantee a particular lifespan or replace supervision.
Theme Extra — the finishing touch to their Adventure.
Use each accessory as directed. Lick mats and wearable accessories are not chew toys. Remove a lick mat when the activity is finished, and do not leave wearable accessories on an unattended dog.
Know When to Say Goodbye to a Toy
Remove an item from use if you notice:
- Open seams, tears or exposed stuffing or squeakers.
- Loose threads, fraying rope or detached attachments.
- Cracks, splits, sharp edges or missing pieces.
- A toy worn down to a size your dog could swallow.
- Any other damage that makes its continued use uncertain.
If you’re unsure, retire it.
A Little Care Between Adventures
Follow the cleaning and storage instructions supplied with each item. Different materials need different care—don’t assume every product is machine washable, dishwasher safe or suitable for freezing.
Where applicable, allow items to dry fully before storing or offering them again. Inspect them after cleaning, too.
Treat Time Deserves a Label Check
Always read the complete ingredient label before serving treats. Follow the package’s feeding and storage instructions, and supervise while your dog eats.
The allergy information you share helps us curate, but it does not guarantee that a treat is suitable for every allergy or free from cross-contact. Ask your veterinarian about dietary or medical concerns.
Adding peanut butter or another spread to a suitable item? Check its ingredients first. Never use a product containing xylitol, sometimes called birch sugar—it is toxic to dogs.
When Something Needs More Than a Helping Paw
If you think your dog swallowed part of an item, stop using it and contact your veterinarian promptly. If your dog is choking or having trouble breathing, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.
